Not everyone approaches writing their novels the same way. Their problems are each different, so their solutions need to be too.
In my work with lots of different kinds of writers as a writing teacher and coach to novelists, I’ve noticed all (okay, most) writers desire to wow and delight their readers, while providing a welcome escape from their daily lives.
But when you’re not writing, and want to be, it can be painful. Like a dull toothache. Or worse.
I know… I’ve been there, lots. My personal stopping blocks are confusion and overwhelm and also the fear of going crazy. Yikes.
In all my work with writers, and also all my work writing my own novels (16 so far), I’ve learned that I am not alone in these fears and blocks.
Most of us writers experience the pain of trying to write something and it not coming out at all like we’d hoped.
Many of us feel the crippling pain that freezes us from even putting down one word for fear it won’t be right or perfect or as good as the writers we admire.
What do we do?
First, breathe, and know what you’re going through is not unusual and actually is a part of the creative process. Something all (okay most) writers experience.
Next, know that creating is a messy process and we are all human and perfectly imperfect.
There’s more I could say and will…in the webinar.
In this webinar, we go more in depth with these inner life things that stall us out from writing and how to sort them out, so we can get back to writing.
I’m offering this for free for a few reasons…
One, I want to give back to my writing community.
Two, I’m writing a book on the spiritual life of a fiction writer and this material is part of that. SO, I'm sharing some of that with you. 🙂
Three, I feel there needs to be a "three"... so here it is.
This course is offered by us, Beth Barany, certified creativity coach for writers, writing teacher, workshop leader, and novelist; and, Ezra Barany, novelist, teacher, and mentor. We are married, have 2 cats, and met at a fiction writing group over 20 years ago.
Beth: I'm an award-winning, best-selling novelist in YA fantasy, paranormal romance, and science fiction mystery, who has worked with hundreds of authors to help them get their books written, polished, and published to the delight of their readers. I'm also the author of books for writers, including Plan Your Novel Like A Pro, co-written with my husband, thriller writer Ezra Barany.
